Skin detox with Rescue & Renew

  • Ali

Arbonne have just launched their new Rescue & Renew range to reinvigorate and help detox your skin and your mind.

Having just returned from Las Vegas and Arbonne’s Global Training conference I really see the power of detoxification.

My skin is in a mess. My legs and arms are really dry from sun exposure, chemicals in the swimming pool and generally over doing it! You know what I say - put rubbish in and you get rubbish out. All that chlorinated water, burning the candle at both ends, a long haul flight and too many cocktails are showing up now that I’m home!

You may feel that this is your skin’s natural state – always under stress and feeling a little ragged at the edges - but for me it’s a rare state and one I need to tackle quickly. So how am I going to create that glowing skin I love so much and how can you?

Detoxification is a vital process that helps bring the appearance of vitality back to dull, lacklustre looking skin. In today’s fast paced world (and Las Vegas is certainly fast paced) daily skin aggressors like stress, pollution, sun exposure, and lack of quality sleep can have an effect on the look of your skin. To restore skin to its balanced look, I’m going to ensure I take the time to relax, restore and renew with detoxification.

My starting point is twofold – tackle the problem from the inside out and from the outside in.

Detox your skin from the inside

Arbonne’s new Rescue & Renew's whole range products will support skin detoxification while Arbonne’s nutritional products can help to support my natural elimination of toxins from the body.

I take Arbonne’s Digestion Plus every day and did so when I was in Vegas too. It supports healthy digestion with Bacillus coagulans, enzymes and botanicals and is something I recommend to most clients.  Maintaining the natural flora balance of the digestive system is key to overall health and this product can help in many ways. I simply tip the sachet under my tongue but you can add it to any cold drink so it’s great in a breakfast smoothie, protein shake or in an energising Arbonne Fizz Stick .

I’m also ensuing I drink 2 or 3 cups of Arbonne’s Herbal Infusion Blend tea each day. It supports the liver and kidneys, with nine botanicals in a mild, caffeine free formula. As I need an Arbonne Energy Fizz Stick to keep my energy levels up while I’m adjusting to the time difference between home and Las Vegas, I’ve been adding a Fizz Stick to my Arbonne tea. It’s a new thing for me but it’s lovely. I love Fizz Sticks for their energising blend of botanicals, green tea, ginseng and guarana. They really help me to focus and enhance performance which is just what I need when that 3pm afternoon sleepiness hits me!

As I’m hitting this in two ways I’m also detoxing my skin from the outside too. Your skin is responsible for a quarter of the natural detoxification that your body does each day to keep itself healthy, both inside and out. With an effective detoxification, your skin should be healthy and appear vibrant, radiant and feel soft. Skin that appears dry, flaky or dull is in need of rejuvenation and additional detoxification by cleansing, exfoliating and masking.

Arbonne’s cleansers, exfoliators and masks help detoxify the skin by cleaning pores, and removing dead skin cells along with environmental build up on the skin’s surface.

What do I do to detox my skin?

I cleanse twice daily:

This helps remove surface impurities. In the shower in the morning I use my FC5 Exfoliating New Cell Scrub on my face and in the evening I use the RE9 Advanced Smoothing Facial Cleanser. For my body I love the new Rescue and Renew Detox Scrub and Detox Body Wash.

I love the science that Arbonne puts behind its botanicals and the benefits of this lovely Detox Scrub come from these essential botanical elements including:

  • A sense of energy and increased invigoration from aromatic essential oils of grapefruit and orange
  • Vitamin E, with antioxidant properties, helps protect skin’s moisture barrier
  • Avocado oil, with moisturising properties, helps protect the skin’s natural moisture barrier from water loss
  • Coriander seed oil, with antioxidants, soothes skin
  • Passion Fruit seed oil moisturises skin

Formulated with aromatic essential oils the Rescue and Renew Detox Scrub polishes away dry, dead surface skin cells and surface impurities caused by exposure to environmental aggressors, like the swimming pool water. It’s effective at clearing pores of excess oil, dead skin, and build up which helps improve the appearance of radiant, brightened skin and hydrates to promote the appearance of softer and smoother skin, leaving skin feeling soft to the touch.

With the same properties of the Detox Scrub, the Rescue Wash is a super all round shower product and great in a sports bag or after a swim. It contains alfalfa and chicory extracts to help improve the appearance of skin tone and smoothness and mineral salt to help balance the skin’s appearance, revealing a smoother, brighter surface – so great if you’re looking for brighter, detoxed skin.

I practice skin brushing:

It’s similar to exfoliating but dry brushing helps stimulate the skin’s surface and removes dead skin cells. I do this every morning before I get in the shower.

I relax with a self-massage:

I start with my feet and work my way up the body using light, upward strokes, to help release stress and restore positive energy. I love the Rescue and Renew Detox Oil for this.

This amazing oil moisturises to promote skin elasticity, helping dimpled skin appear smooth and toned and promoting the appearance of healthy, radiant skin. It also delivers hydration and helps skin to retain moisture which in turn improves the appearance of dull, lackluster and tired looking skin, helping skin look softer and smoother.

For me the benefits of using this lovely massage oil are:

  • Aromatic essential oils from orange, lavender, anise, and bergamot are known to create a sense of calm and relaxation
  • Vitamin E, with antioxidant properties, helps protect skin’s moisture barrier
  • Grape seed and sesame oils moisturise to support collagen, helping to promote firmer looking skin
  • Argan oil, with antioxidants, vitamin E, and essential fatty acids, moisturises and conditions skin

Sweat:

Sweating can quickly and effectively discharge the body and skin of toxins, so vigorous workouts and the use of steam rooms are effective for detoxifying skin. I kept telling myself that this morning when I was at a particularly hard Kettlercise class. Perhaps it wasn’t any harder than the class before Vegas but with school half term and a week away I’d missed three classes and oh did it feel hard. But then that sweat was good for me so no complaints!

Stay hydrated:

Drink at least 6–8 glasses of water daily. Hydrating helps your body flush out toxins and gives skin the appearance of a healthy glow. I love to fill my Arbonne 1litre bottle with fruit and herbs and sit it on my desk. If I haven’t drunk at least half by 11am I know I need to get a move on!

Use masks:

Full body or face masks draw out impurities from the skin’s surface, helping prevent clogged pores and remove excess oils. The new Rescue and Renew Detox Face Mask with its French pink clay cleanses to draw out impurities resulting in smaller looking pores and helping to detox the skin.

Again Arbonne has been super clever with its technology and uses oil pulling technology helps to unclog pores by drawing out impurities, dirt and oils from the surface of the skin. As the mask dries you can see where it has visibly drawn out excess sebum without stripping the skin, helping pores appear smaller through cleansing. It helps skin appear brighter and promotes the look of smoother, refreshed looking skin, leaving your looking cleansed, renewed and detoxed.

I’m amazed at how the French pink clay acts like a magnet to attract surface dirt and impurities; cleansing and gently exfoliating skin.

The rosemary oil also hydrates; helping to maintain the look of skin clarity along with five self-neutralising acids — mandelic acid, phytic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid and azelaic acids which help clarify, refine and brighten the appearance of skin tone.

Stretch and move:

Walking, as well as activities like yoga, can help increase blood flow, promote relaxation and maintain a sense of harmony which is important for detoxification.

I love to meditate first thing in the morning and often do a few yoga stretches to get my muscles warm and blood flowing before I get into the shower. It’s a great way to start the day. If you’ve never tried meditating I think the best place to start is with a free app. Or read my blog about why I think meditating could work for you.

I’d love to know how you get on so message me with your favourite meditations. And if your skin is super dry and you need a helping hand but don’t know where to start please get in touch so I can help you get the product you need to return your healthy glow.
